Join us for the first lecture of our new lecture series, which addresses the #MeToo movement in the restaurant industry. The male-dominated restaurant industry became fertile ground for the #MeToo movement almost immediately after film industry exposes revealed instances of sexual assault and harassment at the highest levels.
Sexism, inequality in management and leadership, and sexual assault and harassment frequently occur in the restaurant industry. In the kitchen, men often significantly outnumber women. The situation at the top is even more pronounced with a paucity of female executive chefs, management, and owners. The #MeToo movement has been an opportunity to address this situation.
Restaurant industry insiders Beth Gruitch, a partner in the Crafted Concepts restaurant group, and Sara Brito, Co-Founder of the Good Food Media Network and publisher of the Good Food 100 Restaurants™, will share their insights on this topic.
