SUMMARY:Filmmaking for Kids
DESCRIPTION:Sponsored by Burnham Law \nThis year’s family program will demonstrate that creating films about food isn’t only for adults. Reel Kids\, which provides workshops and camps for creative exploration by kids in acting and film-making\, will provide short food films created by their students. After watching films that kids like them have made\, audience members will have the opportunity to participate in a film-making workshop with Reel Kids faculty and teen leaders. \nThe workshop will include a friendly film exercise and food that they can use as subjects and bring home. Participants should bring a cell phone. \nThis program is open to kids of all ages. \nReel Kids was founded in 2009 and is located in Superior\, CO. Their class topics span the entire gamut of film production\, including acting\, writing\, directing\, and editing. Reel Kids also holds musicals. \nSpeakers: Peter Garland\, Jocelyn Leroux\, and Kelly Mcallister of Reel Kids \nNo charge but registration is required.

SUMMARY:Opening Night: The Migrant Kitchen
DESCRIPTION:We sink our teeth into the food from other countries all of the time. Not only is the United States a melting pot of people\, its cuisine also originates from immigrants and their countries. The Emmy Award-winning series The Migrant Kitchen delves into the culinary contributions of immigrants and gastronomic cross-cultural pollination. \nDuring this program\, we will screen the Omotenashi and The Jewish Deli episodes of The Migrant Kitchen series. In between the films\, there will be an intermission with tastes of Japanese and Jewish deli food. A discussion will follow the films. \nSpeaker: Stef Ferrari \n$13 General Admission ($12 Students/Seniors)

SUMMARY:Tampopo at the Alamo Drafthouse Westminster
DESCRIPTION:We are pleased to co-present a special screening of the Flatirons Food Film Festival hit film\, Tampopo\, with the Alamo Drafthouse Westminster. Get ready for the 2019  Festival by whetting your appetite with one of the best food films of all time. \nThe tale of an enigmatic band of ramen ronin who guide the widow of a noodle shop owner on her quest for the perfect recipe\, Tampopo serves up a savory broth of culinary adventure seasoned with off-beat comedy sketches and the  exploits of a gastronome gangster. Sweet\, sexy\, surreal\, and mouthwatering\, Tampopo remains one of the most delectable examples of food on film. \nThe late Anthony Bourdain recognized the extreme foodie quotient of this film\, saying\, “There is no more ‘foodie’ a film.” Though Tampopo predates this term\, it anticipates a kind of insane fetishism that is commonplace today. \nRamen demo \nFor a complete ramen experience\, there will be two more ramen events that you can attend. Get to the theater early to catch a ramen demonstration and sampling by chef Jesusio Silva of Miski @ Superior\, which starts at 3:15m. \nRamen dinner \nAfter the film\, come to our ramen gathering at Misaki @ Superior so we can slurp noodles and discuss the movie together. Everyone is responsible for their own tabs. Save your ticket stub for a 15% discount.
